flash assignment upload

oh where do I begin with this drama… I started uploading it at 7 or half 7 and it seemed to be taking forever so I presumed it was running slow because others were online uploading too. It ended up that my assignment was too big to upload. Tried zipping it, but that didn’t work. I was frustrated and scared about losing marks so emailed Marie a few times but no response!! I couldn’t believe it. I felt so stranded.
The following day, Niall had a post up on sulis and he had put his assignment on rapidshare. I then did this and was able to send Marie on the link or it. I couldn’t believe it but I felt a very aggressive tone from her in the email where she acknowledged the receipt of the assignment.
At least now there are only three assignments left. Although I am at a temporary disadvantage as I have broken my wrist.

interview with Intuition

Today I interviewed a graphic designer from Intuition. It was really good and so informative. I was nervous before I went in, but then he kept chatting away and was so nice.
I found myself with him for forty minutes and I thought I was going to struggle with getting a half an hour. He also gave my information about the company which will no doubt help in the presentation of the podcast.
He gave me such good advice about everything from getting into the industry to finding the most suitable position.

I want to be a graphic designer!

Flash deadline approaches

As the Flash deadline looms over all our heads everyone seems to be struggling to get it sorted. I had so much trouble with the buttons not working, but that problem has been fixed.
Decided to change the idea of slideshow images panning across the screen and they are now fading in and out. I’ve also managed to chop up the piece of music and fit it perfectly with the images.
Now I just need to do a few other things in order to make sure all boxes are ticked. Like the motion guide which I think will be with text as a start up screen before the main menu.
I must start that now, at least I’ve edited a piece of music for that too.
Oh and not to forget that tomorrow I’m interviewing a graphic designer from Intuition for the podcast assignment. It’s all go.

seminar series

Yesterday a woman from Firecrest Clinical came in to speak with us about her role as an instructional designer. It was really interesting and I have to say I was rather pleased when she said how busy they were at the moment. Perhaps there’s hope for us all yet on the job front.

Flash

So I decided to spend yesterday at home doing this Flash assignment. I was a little aprehensive about the whole thing, but when I got going it went pretty well.
I had all my content put in, labels, buttons, etc. Then hit a problem.
The buttons and the code that goes along with them. One button worked so I copied the code, changed the names and presumed it would work.
But it didn’t and I spent hours on it yesterday and had to give up, but will hopefully resolve it today.

I had lots of fun today, recording my voice and importing mp3s etc. More than I actually expected to have. It was my first time using this tool and I expected it to be difficult, but it was actually vary simple to use. Selecting, copying and pasting and silencing and amplifying sound.

Hopefully it’ll be easy enough to do the voiceovers for my final project. Fingers crossed.

flash project

So I’ve finally decided on a subject for my Flash assignment, it’s going to be on Marcel Marceau as part of my topic of mime in my e-learning project. It should be interesting enough if I can get Flash to work the way I want it to. Had a couple of ideas for it today.
Only have a handful of journal articles for the essay part one assignment which is due next. Hopefully I’ll be able to find something more tomorrow.

Report is done

I can’t believe it. The report is done, finished, completed. I’m so delighted and relieved and have an overwhelming urge to jump for joy.
I did have a little problem with formatting the page numbers though. It looked perfect yesterday before I sent it on to Christina to write her conclusion. But a problem seemed to occur after she made changes in the document and the little box different from first page that usually works to get rid of the page number just changed it from i to 1. There seemed no way around it I would have to remove page numbers. Unfortunately I had to manually remove all the numbers in the document as the ‘remove page numbers’ button wasn’t highlighted so I couldn’t use it. But the problem got solved, the report is finished and emailed to the lecturers so now all there is left to do is the video conference this afternoon. Oh joy!

Week 6 already!

It’s here and I can’t believe it. We’re half way through the term and it seems a little scary.
So far we’ve learned a lot of theories surrounding learning, elements of Flash (which I still haven’t really grasped) and the benefits and drawbacks of working through online collaboration.
I think we all seem to know much more than we give ourselves credit for, so we should be very proud of ourselves to have gotten this far.

teamwork doesn’t work

ok, so I think I’ve finished writing about my collaboration tool. It’s not very good in my opinion but it’s done and at least that’s the main thing. Yet there’s no sign of my teammates work?? But to be honest the Skype call Wednesday seemed a bit of a joke, especially to the male member of my team. You know who you are. He was asking how I was getting on writing up stuff, and we were to have it finished and emailed Thursday. I had over 800 words typed so I though that was pretty good. I asked him how he was doing and I must hang my head in shame and embarrassment for this guy. His response was “I’ve two hundred words done. In my head.” This is just completely ridiculous. But to be honest the whole teamwork thing just didn’t work for me. This was only the second time I’ve spoken to the guy, the first time I’d seen him on Skype and he made a really bad impression. One of the nights we were to have online chat last weekend he wanted to do it and hour later. That’s fine for them but for me it was already 11pm! So I just couldn’t agree to it. This guy just seems like he doesn’t want to put the effort in. When I was speaking that same night with my other teammate we were discussing roles and I just couldn’t believe what she said. She said that he would do the TOC, I was astounded as you can imagine. The Table of Contents. Seriously?! I said to her that I would put the document together and I could do the TOC as part of it etc. The following night he needed clarification on roles and said he would look after the appendix. The appendix!?! Again, seriously? What does he think he’s doing? I said fine and said he could do the introduction as well.
Actually I’m dreading getting feedback from my teammates and I haven’t seen their work and am I the only person that was really confused about what to write?
Hopefully it’s better than I think it is.
